Director and Associate Directors
The Grand Union DTP is led by the Director, Professor David Mills who is also is also University Associate Professor in Pedagogy and the Social Sciences, based in Oxford’s Department of Education.
The Grand Union DTP Management Board is responsible for the oversight and management of all aspects of the DTP grant and partnership activities. The Management Board is chaired by the DTP Director, co-chaired by the Associate Directors, and its membership includes all 24 pathway leads. Membership also includes elected full-time (FT) and part-time (PT) student representatives. The Management Board meets termly, and appoints the Grand Union Studentship Awards Panel from its membership.
Meeting twice a year, the Grand Union DTP Strategy Group advises the DTP on its strategic priorities. Membership includes students, senior representatives from our universities, and our Director and Associate Directors. Our three external representatives play a challenge and scrutiny role, and will help us to develop new collaborative links. Our externals are Dr Sharron Witherspoon, Head of Policy at the Academy of Social Sciences, Dr Jo Beall, Director of Education and Society, British Council, and Dr Dan O'Connor, Head of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Wellcome Trust.
Student Representatives Forum
Each pathway has a student representative. Termly meetings allow students to provide feedback on their experience of training and support, and offer a chance to shape DTP policy.
Our scholars have set up their own independent Scholars Association. They have their own constitution, with an elected committee, including a President, Treasurer, Academic Officer and Social Officer, and the President sits on our Management Board and Strategy Group. The Association provides a chance for our scholars to develop leadership skills and initiate academic and social activities.
All scholars are automatically members of the Grand Union Scholars Association.
